Understanding Fibroid

What is fibroid?
It is medically refered to as 'Uterine fibroid' or fibromyoma. It.It is a form of tumor.

Where does it occur? 
It is a growth in the wall of the womb(uterus) or the opening's wall(cervix).Some fibroid are small while others are big; it can be up to the size of 12 weeks pregnancy. This occurrence has influenced some women to think they are pregnant.

What is the cause?
The specific cause is known.

What are the symptoms?

  • heavy menstrual flow
  • abdominal swelling particularly if it is big one.
  • irregular vaginal bleeding
  • urinary retention
  • excessive urinating
  • constipation
  • abdominal pain
  • infertility etc
What is to be done?
  1. See your doctor
  2. No specific treatment especially if no symptom
  3. Surgical removal
